Description
This ex-voto was found during archaeological excavations in Syria in the 1850s. It was most likely an offering to a local deity. The inscription in Greek on the wrist reads: ex-voto with a dedication to Prokli, herself and her home. The original is on display at the Louvre. In collaboration with Réunion des Musées Nationaux (French National Museum Council), Cire Trudon presents reproductions made of multi-colored wax. The ex-voto does have a wick, so as not to lose its original function as a candle, but our wax sculptures are intended more for collecting than for burning.
