Description
Perfumes Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella Marescialla is a bouquet of spicy and woody-oriental notes. This exclusive composition was created in the 19th century and contains nutmeg in the top note, while the heart and base are woody. The original formula of scented powder was created by Countess D'Aumont, the wife of a French marshal, who used it to perfume her gloves. It is said that her interest in alchemy aroused suspicion of witchcraft and she was burned at the stake. "Bouquet à la Maréchale" was fashionable in the late 19th century. In the literary masterpiece by Tomasi di Lampedusa, The Leopard, Angelica used these perfumes at a ball in Salina, where "the scent of the bouquet à la Maréchale emanated from Angelica's décolleté..."

About the brand Santa Maria Novella

Florence is home to one of the oldest pharmacies in the world - Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, which dates back to the 13th century. Famous scents and skincare products have been created for centuries from a blend of flowers and herbs collected from the hills of Tuscany, maturing in old terracotta jars. Among the compositions still produced today according to Dominican formulas are Acqua di Colonia (Catherine de' Medici's favorite scent), created in the 17th century Acqua di Santa Maria Novella, and Acqua di Rose - an excellent refreshing tonic, sold since the second half of the 14th century, as well as hand-shaped and packaged soaps, which mature for 60 days in ventilated cabinets.

All products are made exclusively in Florence, based on medicinal plants and herbs grown in the same way as in the Middle Ages.

Reviews of Marescialla

Marescialla is a "simple" perfume, but the battle for dominance between sharp nutmeg and lasting lemon notes makes for an interesting development of the scent. The citrus note of Marescialla - waxy, intense, and in a strange way "old-fashioned" - lasts and lasts. These are enchanting perfumes, and for me also soothing, because they smell like my grandmother's apple pie - without the apples.
