If walls could talk, they would have incredible stories to tell! When Myriam Badault discovered that the founder's house of diptyque in Normandy used to be a post office where Marcel Proust sent his correspondence, she came up with a brilliant idea. She thought of a scent with universal charm. It was the aroma of a delicious madeleine, refreshingly lemony and delightfully fluffy, just like the one described by Marcel Proust in "In Search of Lost Time". Badault asked perfumer Fabrice Pellegrina to create an aromatic wax with a scent that would tantalize the taste buds of the most discerning connoisseurs. She told him about the famous Dax madeleines made by the Cazelle bakery founded in 1906, and the irresistible sponge cake. Even the raw buttery dough makes your mouth water. No one knows how many madeleines were tasted to perfect the formula for this one-of-a-kind candle, which is now part of the unparalleled Collection 34.

The porcelain container was created by NG Oficina de Porcelanas in Portugal - a craft company that celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2016 and has had countless years of collaboration with many museums. Since 2011, they have been collaborating with diptyque in creating Collection 34. This time, their employees designed a ceramic container with a chalky, almost sandy texture, with smooth, black enamel covering the edges. A masterfully crafted object that you will enjoy holding in your hand.

 

About the brand Diptyque

 

The history began in 1961, when three friends - Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Gautrot and Yves Coueslant - opened a boutique on the Saint Germain boulevard in Paris. Initially, they sold fabrics, beautiful objects and souvenirs brought from exotic travels. Two years later, they presented their first candle with the scent of hawthorn, and in 1968 their first eau de toilette - L'Eau. 

Diptyque masterfully keeps up with ever-changing scent trends, while maintaining its DNA. Olivier Pescheux, one of the most famous contemporary "noses", emphasizes their characteristic feature, which is the unconventional aromatic combinations. One element is always added to the composition, seemingly deviating from the rest, but in reality deepening the experience. In L'Eau, inspired by 16th century potpourri blends, it was ginger. In turn, in the bestselling Do Son, a hypnotic blend of tuberose and jasmine is joined by a vibrant sea accord.
