Pliny the Elder considered these perfumes to be incredibly miraculous. They contained only 24 ingredients - exclusively the best and most luxurious, such as serichatum, costus, cassia, styrax, imported at great cost from distant countries. Called "royal perfumes" because they were created for the kings of Parthia, they gained immense popularity among wealthy Romans. They could not get enough of them, literally bathing in them, in accordance with the fashion of the time.

In Dominique Ropion's interpretation, Artaban is a pure, natural and almost divine concentrate of plant wonders of the world. We are delighted by its intoxicating scents: sweet and bitter marjoram, whose green, rounded leaves emit a delicious aroma, cardamom with a fresh, spicy taste of anise, which is like a refreshing gust of wind, cistus labdanum, whose white flowers in scarlet dots were called "tears of Christ", sweet, vanilla amber, smelling like incense, and finally warm cinnamon, the oldest known spice.

Marka z rzemieślniczym zacięciem. Jej założyciele, Ivan Pericoli i Benoît Astier de Villatte, wytwarzają ceramikę zgodnie z tradycyjnymi XIX-wiecznymi metodami — każdy wyrób jest dzięki temu ponadczasowy i niepowtarzalny. Na ceramice jednak nie koniec! W 2008 roku para przyjaciół zaprosiła do współpracy wybitne “nosy”: Emilie Mazeaud i Françoise Carona (gwiazdę japońskiego domu perfumeryjnego Takasago). Tak powstała linia wód kolońskich, kadzideł i świec zapachowych. Te ostatnie zasługują na szczególne wyróżnienie — każdy knot (z czystej bawełny) dostosowany jest do danej kompozycji, zaś szklane naczynia, zdobione niewielkimi bąbelkami powietrza, powstają w staroświeckim warsztacie w Toskanii. Etykiety i kartonowe opakowania drukuje jeden z ostatnich zecerów Francji — Monsieur Huin.

Le Dieu Bleu, Artaban, Les Nuits - these perfumes are the result of a meeting of the creators of Astier de Villate: Ivan Pericolego and Benoît Astier de Villatte, Dominique Ropion, a perfumer, and Annick Le Guérer, a perfume historian, anthropologist, and researcher.

Ivan Pericoli and Benoît Astier de Villatte are enthusiasts of impossible tasks - they like to revive neglected, destroyed items that have become obsolete. Therefore, they had no doubt that it was worth going on such an adventure. They have already created perfumes and scented candles with their collaborator Emilie Mazeaud, and now they decided to resurrect three forgotten scents, using the research of Annick Le Guérer and the talent of Dominique Ropion.

The starting point was Ropion's collaboration with Annick Le Guérer, which has been going on for over 20 years now. The historian provided the famous nose with precise documentation regarding the first two scents - formulas with the proportions of all ingredients - as well as remnants of perfumes from a traveling vial owned by one of the writer's descendants, Christiane Sand.

Ingredients that do not meet contemporary standards have been modified or replaced. The use of the latest technology and innovation has made it possible to meet the challenge set by the creators of Astier de Villate and their collaborators.
