What are fragrance notes? 

In relation to perfumes, we very often hear about fragrance notes. What are they and why is their existence fundamentally important for the scents we perceive? Fragrance notes are a collection of various aromas that develop at different times after contact with the skin. Individual scents react differently to this contact – some intensify, others blend subtly, and others change almost beyond recognition. These are fragrance notes. Because of them, perfumes smell different immediately after spraying and differently after longer contact with the skin. Fragrance notes create space for surprises and olfactory delights, and they also allow you to enjoy the multidimensionality of a scent for a long time.  

We distinguish three types of fragrance notes that ultimately make up the beauty of each scent: 

Base note, which is at the same time the least intense, yet the most significant for the perception of a given scent. It creates its character and determines whether we want to return to that particular aroma.  
Heart note gives lightness to the whole composition and serves as a smooth connection between the various types of notes. It is a kind of bridge between the base note and the last of the distinguished notes: the top note.  
Top note, that is the first note we detect after spraying the fragrance. It is meant to attract and hypnotize, even if of all the present notes, it evaporates the fastest.  

Seasonality of scents – does it really exist? 

The diversity of available scents, their multidimensionality and unpredictability, lead one to assume that there is a certain seasonality of perfumes. It makes the distinctive aroma of particular scents more mesmerizing in winter than in summer, or in autumn rather than in spring. Is that possible? 

Both the choice of perfume and our perception of scents is a very individual matter. However, it is hard to disagree with the statement that attitude, mood, or expectations towards scents can be different and dependent on the weather surrounding us. In spring we expect freshness and intensity, long-awaited through the winter. Summer is a time of expression, but also lightness and delicacy. In autumn and winter we may crave scents that are a bit heavier and more intense, which will envelop us like the soft fabric of a favorite sweater on a chilly day. That is why we search among notes. We allow ourselves a walk between scents, trying to detect in them what puts us in a good mood, also taking into account the season.  

What scents work well in spring? 

When the world awakens to life, we want to surround ourselves with scents that remind us how beautiful the time ahead is. The family of floral scents is a combination of intensity and lightness, as well as the variety we've longed for. It's a subtle elegance that perfectly corresponds with what is happening around us.  

Which perfumes to choose for summer? 

Summer is a time for bold yet fresh and light scents. For a sunny, lively and joyful atmosphere, lines of citrus, fruity, or floral-woody fit. We give ourselves permission to surround ourselves with freshness and lightness and to follow the rhythm set by nature. We harmonize with it to more beautifully feel what is happening around us.   

Best fragrance notes for autumn 

Autumn is a time of significant changes around us. We follow these changes and this is also visible in the scents we surround ourselves with. It is time for woody-amber notes that delight with intensity but do not overwhelm. It is also a perfect moment for the family of incense scents, among which we will find notes that wonderfully correspond with the time of winding down and settling in for many upcoming weeks. At the same time, these scents do not lack sensuality and the colors that accompany us in autumn.   

The most beautiful perfumes for winter 

Although winter is a time of dormancy and calm, we opt for intense, somewhat heavier scents that recall the wonderful time of aromas we surround ourselves with at home. An absolutely wonderful choice then is the line of spicy scents, which are strongly associated with the time of December holidays. A nod to intensity and elegance is also the choice of leather scented fragrances, perfectly corresponding with elegance and sophistication.  

Fragrance notes are an opportunity to stroll among aromas that delight, hypnotize, and put you in the desired mood. It's a way to satisfy the need to constantly be surrounded by beauty and by a scent that arouses confidence and gives that kind of strength we need at a given moment. And although to the question of the seasonality of scents we can answer: no, it does not exist, it is worth remembering that creating an olfactory aura around yourself that corresponds with the rhythm of nature can be a source of beauty and strength that we will love.
