Their encounter has created a perfume that immerses us in the heart of musk and its aspects. Musk evolves, changes, and releases itself upon contact with the skin, just as ink saturates paper and takes on its texture to conjure up dreams and images. In L'Eau Papier, white musks are delicately faceted by a rice steam accord, evoking the graininess of paper. Soon after, luminous notes of mimosa appear, and a background of light wood settles in, giving L'Eau Papier its scent.
In this eau de toilette, the perfumer used mimosa from Grasse, a variety cultivated since 1865. When their fluffy, yellow flowers bloom in February on the hills around the city of Grasse, they create a stunning view with scents of sunshine, flowers, and honey.

The history began in 1961, when three friends - Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Gautrot and Yves Coueslant - opened a boutique on the Saint Germain boulevard in Paris. Initially, they sold fabrics, beautiful objects and souvenirs brought from exotic travels. Two years later, they presented their first candle with the scent of hawthorn, and in 1968 their first eau de toilette - L'Eau.
Diptyque masterfully keeps up with ever-changing scent trends, while maintaining its DNA. Olivier Pescheux, one of the most famous contemporary "noses", emphasizes their characteristic feature, which is the unconventional aromatic combinations. One element is always added to the composition, seemingly deviating from the rest, but in reality deepening the experience. In L'Eau, inspired by 16th century potpourri blends, it was ginger. In turn, in the bestselling Do Son, a hypnotic blend of tuberose and jasmine is joined by a vibrant sea accord.

L'Eau Papier is the creation of the vision and imagination of perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin. "I started with one initial ingredient, sesame seeds - specifically, an extract from its roasted seeds. This is the surprising element in the fragrance: I chose it to evoke the scent of ink while also adding a subtle taste to the fragrance. I enhanced this with musky notes to emphasize the sensual aspect. Then I added floral notes of mimosa with delicate, powdery properties. The uniqueness of grain and ink accords, combined with the sweetness of white musk, creates the scent of paper - and this combination ultimately defines the fragrance. I tried to convey the subtle interaction when ink meets paper and the richness of musk.
