Florentine iris, musk, amberL'Iris is the first perfume created by Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella after over 800 years of activity. At the base of the olfactory pyramid lies iris butter ("concreta d'iris") obtained from the flower's rhizomes: extremely valuable, it takes 6 years to mature.
This most elegant of ingredients with a powdery scent combines with bright top notes such as neroli, Sichuan pepper and galbanum, to transition into a floral heart of geranium, sambac jasmine and champaca magnolia. Finally, it reaches the base where the classic iris from Florence allows us to experience this magnificent city through a balanced olfactory experience.
L'Iris is the vision of Gian Luca Perris, an incredibly creative perfumer who reinterprets the history of Florence, celebrating its numerous and multifaceted connections with the flower that remains its symbol to this day. Here, the legend of the goddess Iris, messenger of Olympus, is also evoked, as well as the flower known in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. The transparent glass bottle is adorned with a velvet label featuring the brand's historic logo, and a gold, engraved cap with the brand's emblem, reflecting the shape of the bottle.

Florence is home to one of the oldest pharmacies in the world - Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, which dates back to the 13th century. Famous scents and skincare products have been created for centuries from a blend of flowers and herbs collected from the hills of Tuscany, maturing in old terracotta jars. Among the compositions still produced today according to Dominican formulas are Acqua di Colonia (Catherine de' Medici's favorite scent), created in the 17th century Acqua di Santa Maria Novella, and Acqua di Rose - an excellent refreshing tonic, sold since the second half of the 14th century, as well as hand-shaped and packaged soaps, which mature for 60 days in ventilated cabinets.
All products are made exclusively in Florence, based on medicinal plants and herbs grown in the same way as in the Middle Ages.
