Velvety rose, durable and exceptional, is dedicated to one of the best artists of Dadaism - it is a tribute to Marcel Duchamp and his "alter ego" - Rrose Sélavy.

The scent of Rrose Sélavy, Maria Candida tries to interpret the "double" of Marcel Duchamp and the play on words of the name Rrose Sélavy, which sounds like French "eros, c'est la vie" (Eros, that's life) or "arroser la vie" (to toast life). Maria Candida pays tribute to Duchamp and with her velvety, soft, fresh, just picked rose, she toasts to life. Its olfactory vibration fills the air and space. It is three-dimensional like his art. The name Sélavy appeared in 1921 in a series of photographs by Man Ray depicting Duchamp dressed as a woman. In the 1920s, Man Ray and Duchamp created more photographs featuring Sélavy. Duchamp later used this name in his works, using it in a note about the author and signing several works with it.

About the brand

Maria Candida Gentile

Maria Candida graduated from the prestigious perfumery school in Grasse. She is close to the philosophy of slow factory, and uses only the best natural ingredients in her compositions, often sourced from small, organic farms. She creates honest, "personal" scents, in contrast to the mainstream. Each one tells a different story.

"My first memory is related to roses from my family's garden. When they were in bloom, I would gather the petals and make my own rose water, which I would then pour into bottles and give to my family. As I grew up, it became clear to me that creating perfumes is the passion of my life. I believe that a good scent is one that works well for the person wearing it. This effect can only be achieved with natural essences that speak to our body and mind, and that we instinctively love," she says.

Reviews of Rrose Selavy

Rrose Selavy is a collection of different layers of rose stacked on top of each other. Ms. Gentile starts with two familiar versions of this chord - damask rose and may rose. Damask rose is the version with a spicy undertone. May rose is fresh and soft. Together they create a double "r" in the opening and the name of the perfume.

Smell helps to understand the world

Perfumes are not just a matter of selecting notes and proportions. They speak of emotions, help you find your place in reality, and help you come to terms with it in difficult moments, says Olivier Royère, who, together with Sylvie Loday and Benoît Verdier, founded the Parisian brand Ex Nihilo.
