How to encapsulate 50 years of company history in one modern scent? Diptyque perfumers have succeeded brilliantly in this difficult task.
34 boulevard Saint Germain is the jubilee composition of the iconic French brand.
The direct inspiration for nose Roman Kaiser was the scent of the extraordinary interior at 34 boulevard Saint Germain - the first Diptyque boutique.
The composition uses characteristic ingredients from Diptyque's olfactory palette.
The top notes include sparkling and luminous scents of blackcurrant and green leaves, known from L'Ombre dans l'Eau and Philosykos. They are supported by a peppery rose with citrus notes and spices: cloves, cinnamon, and cardamom, previously used in L'Eau.
The heart notes tell a story of flowers. They consist of rose (reminiscent of the one in L'Ombre dans l'Eau), Egyptian geranium (one of Diptyque perfumers' favorite flowers), and heavy accents of tuberose (like in Do Son) with a touch of iris and violet. The base is a combination of woody and resinous notes, adding style and flexibility.
The whole composition is crowned with a surprising note of eucalyptus, which stimulates the nose.

About the brand Diptyque
The history began in 1961, when three friends - Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Gautrot and Yves Coueslant - opened a boutique on the Saint Germain boulevard in Paris. Initially, they sold fabrics, beautiful objects and souvenirs brought from exotic travels. Two years later, they presented their first candle with the scent of hawthorn, and in 1968 their first eau de toilette - L'Eau.
Diptyque masterfully keeps up with ever-changing scent trends, while maintaining its DNA. Olivier Pescheux, one of the most famous contemporary "noses", emphasizes their characteristic feature, which is the unconventional aromatic combinations. One element is always added to the composition, seemingly deviating from the rest, but in reality deepening the experience. In L'Eau, inspired by 16th century potpourri blends, it was ginger. In turn, in the bestselling Do Son, a hypnotic blend of tuberose and jasmine is joined by a vibrant sea accord.
But diptyque is not just fragrances in the form of perfumes or eau de toilettes. It is also world-renowned candles, aromatic care products, home accessories and trinkets that bring great joy. It is limited editions and holiday collections that we wait for all year round.

Reviews of 34 Boulevard Saint Germain
34 Boulevard Saint Germain is the type of scent that the main character of a black and white film noir could wear - one who wears a fedora and is surrounded by clouds of cigarette smoke. And everything happens in a poorly lit alleyway with a street lamp.
