[Fathom (pl. fathoms) - a unit of length equal to six feet, used to measure the depth of the sea]
The sea embraces the father;
His bones are made of coral,
Pearls shine where his eyes once were;
Every part of his body
Is adorned with precious jewels
By the strange power of the ocean.
- Ariel's Song
The inspiration for creating this fragrance was The Tempest, in which Shakespeare conjures up images of violent storms, shipwrecks, and magical islands. The main theme of Fathom V perfume is a phrase taken from "Ariel's Song".
The English expression "sea-change", now understood as transformation or metamorphosis, is now in common use, and was first used in Shakespeare's play. The starting point for creating the Fathom V fragrance was the ever-changing sea. We delved into it by using seemingly opposing ingredients with an extremely high concentration: we combined salt with earth, herbs with moss, and bright floral notes with intense dark spices and pepper.
By combining such contrasting elements as up and down, and light and shadow, we wanted to capture the character of the ever-changing sea: its intensity - the enchantment of its dark depths.
A scent for the fearless: a daring interpretation of the true meaning of the word "sea"...

About the brand Beaufort
The brand was created by musician and writer Leo Crabtree, who has been fascinated by scents and the dark side of British history throughout his life. These two currents are the driving force behind the entire collection. As he says: "The sea, its traditions and superstitions, and the associated lifestyle - all of this is a part of me. The name comes from the 1805 scale of wind strength and serves as a structure within which we try to express ourselves as a brand."
Beaufort fragrances are created in close collaboration with the most distinguished British perfumers and are meant to reflect the collective national subconscious. For example, Iron Duke was created in honor of Arthur Wellesley - the Duke of Wellington, a rider, soldier, politician, and avid lover of tailoring. It is built on notes of leather, tobacco, rum, and... gunpowder.
