The mandarin tree was brought from Indochina in 1828 and since then it has permanently settled on the western coasts of the Mediterranean Sea. It shapes the landscape of Calabria from the Strait of Messina, giving this land a sense of sweetness. The soft fruits of the mandarin were already valued in ancient times, along with its essential oils with an elegant, complex scent.
