Delos, the sacred island of the god Apollo, experienced a peak period of economic and cultural prosperity in the 6th century BC. Currently, uninhabited for centuries, Delos is a barren strip of land, guarded by famous lionesses carved in Naxian marble. The vegetation here is not very diverse.
