Description

Hot summer night of 1838, the house in Nohant - that's where the famous, decadent, late-night parties are held, where all Parisian intellectuals and artists meet: Alfred de Musset, Franz Liszt, Marie d'Agoult, Honoré de Balzac, Gustave Flaubert, Eugène Delacroix. George Sand, who loves the nightlife, and her lover at the time, Frédéric Chopin, lazily stroll through the fragrant gardens until dawn. The air is filled with the intense scent of the writer's perfume. Their recipe, recreated based on the remains of a small travel vial, kept by Christiane Sand and entrusted to perfume historian Annick Le Guérer, has been reinterpreted by Dominique Ropion.

Above all, it is a unique, intoxicating scent of Turkish rose damascena, the most noble and luxurious of all roses. Its seductive power is enhanced by the addition of earthy, woody, very sensual patchouli, as well as refined, powdery notes of iris, floral, intoxicating ylang-ylang and vetiver, with a smoky, leathery aroma and fiery temperament.

Fragrance Notes

About the brand Astier de Villatte

Brand with a crafty touch. Its founders, Ivan Pericoli and Benoît Astier de Villatte, produce ceramics using traditional 19th century methods - making each piece timeless and unique. But ceramics are not the end! In 2008, the pair invited renowned "noses": Emilie Mazeaud and Françoise Carona (a star from the Japanese perfume house Takasago) to collaborate. This resulted in a line of colognes, incense, and scented candles. The candles deserve special recognition - each wick (made of pure cotton) is tailored to the specific composition, while the glass vessels, decorated with small air bubbles, are made in an old-fashioned workshop in Tuscany. The labels and cardboard packaging are printed by one of the last typesetters in France - Monsieur Huin.

More about Les Parfums Historiques

Le Dieu Bleu, Artaban, Les Nuits - these perfumes are the result of the meeting of creators Astier de Villate: Ivana Pericolego and Benoît Astier de Villatte, Dominique Ropion, perfumer, and Annick Le Guérer, perfume historian, anthropologist, and researcher.

Ivan Pericoli and Benoît Astier de Villatte are lovers of impossible tasks - they like to bring neglected, damaged objects back to life, those that have fallen into oblivion. That's why they had no doubt that it was worth living such an adventure. They have already created perfumes and scented candles with their collaborator Emilie Mazeaud, and now they decided to revive three forgotten scents, using the research of Annick Le Guérer and the talent of Dominique Ropion.

The starting point was Ropion's collaboration with Annick Le Guérer, which has lasted for over 20 years. The historian provided the famous nose with precise documentation regarding the first two scents - formulas with proportions of all ingredients - as well as remnants of perfumes from a traveling vial of George Sand, entrusted to him by one of the writer's descendants, Christiane Sand.

Ingredients that do not meet modern standards have been modified or replaced. The use of the latest technology and innovation has enabled the creators Astier de Villate and their collaborators to meet the challenge they set for themselves.
