vetiver, patchouli, myrrhRōzu is the fourth fragrance from the Aesop brand. It pays tribute to the French modernist designer Charlotte Perriand.
The Rōzu fragrance contains numerous references to Perriand's life and work. The top notes allude to the Japanese rose garden named after her. The fresh Shiso notes give a sense of snowy coldness - a reference to the icy peaks of the Alps where she used to hike in her free time. The heart notes, floral and spicy with a touch of guaiac wood, depict her complex personality: Charlotte was both bold and sensitive. The powdery base notes include vetiver, patchouli, and myrrh - an allusion to the masculine perfumes she loved to wear.
Perriand was a child of the machine age, but she nostalgically embraced traditional craftsmanship and natural materials. That's why Rōzu embodies subtle olfactory paradoxes - it combines warm, complex floral notes with light touches of green citrus and wood. Barnabé Fillion, a long-time collaborator of Aesop, participated in creating the fragrance. He had previously worked on Marrakech Intense, Hwyl, and the Aromatique Room Sprays collection. Fillion stayed in close contact with Perriand's family, spent time in her loft in Paris, and even traveled to Japan with her daughter and son-in-law, Pernette Perriand-Barsac and photographer Jacques Barsac.
Simple botanical recipes, scents that occur in nature, timeless, unchanging aesthetics. Thanks to its extraordinary sense, consistency and lack of intrusive advertising, the brand has established a strong position in the market. And it has maintained it since 1987.
Aēsop is based on plant extracts in many forms, and the formulas contain the best plant collections from a given season - which is why they are slightly different every year. However, the brand does not limit itself to natural ingredients, sometimes reaching for synthetic substances - always tested for safety. There is no division here into time of day (although there are exceptions) or gender. What else distinguishes it? It invests in innovation, but also... relationships with the world of art - limited edition packaging is created in collaboration with outstanding artists.
