Step-by-step instructions for making a soy candle

1. Prepare the wick and container

- Before pouring the wax, trim the wick to the appropriate length. The wick should protrude about 2–3 cm above the container to ensure it burns well.
- Use hot glue (heat resistant) to attach the wick to the bottom of the container. Make sure it is centered so the candle burns evenly. 

2. Melt the soy wax

- Usually for one standard-sized candle (about 8 cm in diameter) you need around 100–150 g of soy wax. It is worth weighing the wax on a kitchen scale beforehand to be sure you have neither too little nor too much. 
- The easiest way to melt soy wax is in a double boiler. To do this, place the container with the wax in a pot of hot water. This way the wax will melt evenly—you don't have to worry about burning it. Just monitor that the wax temperature does not exceed 85°C. 
- Stir the wax gently every few minutes until it becomes completely liquid. 

3. Add fragrances and dyes

- When the wax reaches about 60–65°C, add your chosen essential oil. Usually 6–10% of oil is added relative to the mass of the wax—depending on the intensity of scent you want to achieve. You can also experiment with blends of different oils to create unique fragrance compositions. 
- If you want the candle to have color, add a few drops of dye at this stage. Start with a small amount and gradually add more until you reach the desired color. 

4. Pour the wax into the container

- Before pouring the soy wax into the container, make sure its temperature is about 50–55°C. Wax that is too hot can cause the container to crack. 
- Pour the wax slowly, trying not to move the wick. You can fill it to 3/4 of the container's height to leave room for any adjustments and corrections to its level. 
- Make sure the wick does not shift while pouring the wax. 

5. Let the candle cool

- The candle needs 24–48 hours to fully harden. This should take place at room temperature. 
- It's worth waiting until the wax has completely cooled before trimming the wick. 

6. Trim the wick

- After the wax has hardened, trim the wick to about 5 mm. A wick that is too long can cause excessive smoking and inefficient burning of the soy candle.
