Description

In her work Vétyver, Mona di Orio reveals all the available possibilities of this earthy, citrusy scent, like a pianist discovering the intricacies of tonality in a Bach piano concerto. Fresh, dry, peppery, hesperidic, and even minty - Vétyver combines the best of vetiver with notes that emphasize its hesperidic and fresh characteristics. In the top notes, Madagascar ginger creates the olfactory illusion of sniffing fresh root. Virginia cedarwood and nutmeg sage add a slightly tart, herbal chord with a delicate hint of mint.

In a magical way, Vétyver gives the impression of both dryness and freshness. It resembles freshly brewed herbal tea with a touch of grapefruit peel releasing its oils. The hesperidic note, more concentrated than juicy and effervescent, provides a wonderful counterbalance to the subtle but rich tonka bean and labdanum, which add weight and fullness to the perfume. Ginger and nutmeg become more pronounced as the scent is worn, and the paradoxical freshness and dryness of Vétyver remains on the skin. An excellent scent for both women and men on warm days. Vetyver is a rarity: a pure and complex fragrance.

About the brand Mona di Orio

"One of the most important features of the compositions I create is light. I love playing with scents, just like a painter plays with light and shadow. The top notes are bright and full of radiance, the heart notes are full of reflections, and the base notes are embedded in darkness." - that's how Mona di Orio talked about her philosophy of creating perfumery masterpieces. Her work and thinking about scents were undoubtedly influenced by her classical education, erudition, and over fifteen years of experience with one of the greatest authorities in perfumery, Edmund Roudnitski.

These are scents that cannot be forgotten, let alone imitated or replaced. They are unique, multi-threaded, and full of depth. They show humility towards the raw material and the sense of smell, true passion, and something incredibly rare and difficult to name - perhaps that's why they are so moving.

Mona di Orio passed away suddenly in 2011. Her work is continued by Jeroen Oude Sogtoen.
